Sri Nannagaru’s answers to questions posed by Devotee from Israel

Nannagaru: N;
Devotee from Israel: DI

DI: What path (way) I should follow?
N (To an interpreter): Ask him what pathway he has a taste for?
DI: The way of Love
N: You follow the path of devotion. Devotion is the safest path. Love and devotion are safe pathways.

DI: What is the way appropriate for me of doing self-enquiry? What else should I know about my own process of spirituality?
N: You need not follow self-enquiry. Everything will come from devotion that is needed for you. Everything will come. Self-enquiry is only for doubters of God. Self-enquiry is for those who question God’s existence. For those who follow devotion path, self-enquiry is not necessary. There is God, there is Govinda, there is Arunachala – whichever form you like, you put your mind on your favorite God. Self-enquiry is not the only path to realization. There are so many paths to God realization. One of the paths is self-enquiry. (He doesn’t need self-enquiry.) Path of devotion also leads to God realization. For example, the greatest Bhakta Tukaram is the greatest devotee of Panduranga. In the path of devotion he completely eliminated the body bound I. He eliminated the sense of body bound I through devotion.

DI: How can I communicate with you when I am far from you?
N: Through silence. Communication is not necessary; mental contact is enough. Always remember me – that is enough. Mental contact is enough, it is enough.

DI: Will wife and children be a problem for me in spiritual life?
N: (Is he asking about his personal matter?) Wife and children are not the problem to spiritual life. Your ego sense, your body bound I, is the problem. Your ego sense is the problem to get God realization. Obstacles are not outside – not your wife, not your children. Only your ego sense, only your body bound I is an obstacle to get God realization. Difficulties and troubles are in you in the form of ego sense.

DI: How many hours a day should I meditate?
N: Meditation is remembrance of God. What kind of meditation are you doing?
DI: Self enquiry – Who am I?
N: Self enquiry is entirely different from meditation. To put the mind on any form of the God constantly is meditation. Self-enquiry is entirely different from meditation. Meditation is one thing and self-enquiry is another thing. They are two different paths. But these two paths lead to God realization. You always put your mind on any form of God. If you think always of that form, generally, the mind will be reduced, the mind will be destroyed. Mind is the greatest obstacle to realization. If you think of your favorite God constantly, your mind will be automatically destroyed. Then, you realize what you are. (Ask him if he understood.) Meditation is entirely different from self-enquiry.

DI: Now for two years I am doing self-enquiry (Who am I? of Ramana Maharshi). Should I combine together, or should I stop doing self-enquiry? What to do now?
N: Please understand this, in self-enquiry, you repeatedly ask the question “Who am I?” If there is no ‘I’ at all, what is the purpose of “Who am I?” practice?
DI: If there is no ‘I’, so why to ask “Who am I?”?
N: What you think as ‘I’ is only mere thought. It is a mere thought. It is not a true ‘I’, it is not a real ‘I’. If you realize that there is no ‘I’ at all, you need not do self-enquiry “Who am I?”

DI: Chinese movement meditation can be helpful for my path?
N: Not only meditation, any path, if you follow sincerely and devotedly, it will lead to peace of mind – to God realization. Slowly and steadily you get Nirvana state. If you achieve desire less state, then you will get Nirvana state. Then you need not wear another body. Now you are body. If you have no desires of any kind, you need not wear another body. You need not have birth, you have no necessity to be reborn again, if there are no samskaras in you. If body is necessary to you, body will come. If body is not necessary to you, body will not come. To find out, put this question to yourself through introspection (inner enquiry). Anyhow, you asked me all these questions. Basically, you must have purity and concentration. You must have complete faith that there is only God. You must have faith in God without reservations – complete surrender then automatically, your body sense will drop away. In Christian and Muslim religions, they call ego sense as Satan. Satan will not allow you to acquire Jnana (self-knowledge). You asked so many questions, just remember this, don’t do any kind of bad always do good as long as you live, try best of your ability to purify your mind. Do nothing, try to think or see nothing, that would be unworthy of God’s presence. You must earn God’s Grace. You must earn God’s Grace.

DI: How much time should I be here in Jinnuru?
N: It is not a question of time. It is not a question of time. Time and space are not Truth. There is no truth in time and there is no time in Truth. There is no truth in space, and there is no truth in distance also. The question is not where your body is, but the question is where your mind is. Mind is important, not the physical body. Arunachala is a holy place, now why you left the Arunachala?

DI: To see you.
N: Arunachala is God. Arunachaleswara is God. I am also a jiva like you. You are a jiva, I am also a jiva. Why don't you stay more time in Arunachala?
DI: I came to see you but I understand.
N: Your favorite God is Arunachala?
DI: My ... God has no shape, no form, no name.
N: Yes, very good! Nameless and formless. God is both with a form and name, and he is formless and nameless also. But if you want to meditate, there must be an object to your mind. If there is no name and form that path also is good, but for you nameless and formless path is very difficult. God has no form and God has no name; and there is name and form also. If God is without form and without name, you can’t put your mind. You put your mind on one form constantly, and then your restless mind will be destroyed. Although God is nameless and formless, you must give (create) a name and form to God because it is the easiest path to get God realization. Name and form also leads to nameless and formless God.

DI: Yes, I understand. I have a name for God “Elohim” but I don’t know the form.
N: You have a name, God also has a name. If you have a name, God also has a name. If you are formless and nameless, God also is formless and nameless. (As long as he has a name and he is limited to that name, how can he reach the nameless God?)

DI: I have one more question to clarify. Two years I have been practicing self-enquiry (Who am I of Ramana Maharshi). Now what should I do with this path?
N: It helps you to meditation and to devotion. Self-enquiry also will help you in meditation. (Does he understand, tell him what he has done will not be wasted.)

DI: So should I still do self-enquiry small part of the day?
N: First you understand me. One thing you must understand – complete devotion, complete surrender, and complete dedication is not different from self-enquiry. Surrender path is easier than self-enquiry path. Surrender path is devotion path, and is more easy than self-enquiry. Complete devotion also will eliminate/ remove the body bound I.(Let me tell him). Your meditation, your devotion towards any God will remove and eliminate your body bound I. Did you understand?

DI: Yes.
N: You understood the subject now? You need not have any doubts.

(Ask him if all his doubts are cleared.)

"All is Nanna, Nanna is All" - (By Devotees)

“O my father, you are the saviour of so many devotees
Please do also accept us and be our saviour”

Neither am I the great saint sabari, to wait for you endlessly, nor Radha with eternal patience,

I am a commoner in this vicious cycle of samsara(The endless cycle of birth and death), be my saviour by relenting the devotion of Sabari and eternal love of Radha.
“O my Father”

Neither am I the “Tyagayya” to be able to praise your goodness nor “Meera” to sing & dance in sheer bliss for you with pure devotion.

Please do bless us with the devotional bliss of Tyagayya and Meera as we are trapped in world of desire and anger.
“O my Father”

Neither am I the most learned as “Jayadeva” nor “Vemana” whose ‘mind was quiescent’(Vairagyam).

Please do give us the joy of the divinity of the humble knowledge of Vemana and Jayadeva as we live in the ignorance of proudness of our ego.
“O my Father”

Neither am I the great devotee as “Ramadasu” to suffer karma as your blessings nor the blind poet “Surdas” to worship you.

O my father make us learn to surrender to you as Ramadasu and Surdas , as we are only filled with jealousy and hate.
“O my Father”

To just be in the divine presence of my grace, my master Sadguru Sri Nanna Bhagavan of Arunachala Ramana. All is Nanna, Nanna is all.
so humane and complete,
so kind and lender,
so generous and joyful,
so lovely and wonderful
so simple, silent and still,
so heartful and beautiful,
so virtuous and committed,
so kingly and graceful,
so benign and sagacious,
so on and on and on and on ...................

Guru Bramha Guru Vishnu Guru Devo Maheshwara Guru Sakshath Parabramha Tasmayeesri Gurave Namah .

All is Nanna, Nanna is All.

Every moment let all of us affirm to throw our little ( i ) self at the feet of my grace Sadguru Sri Nanna Bhagavan of Arunachala Ramana. Who is the ultimate and the Real - i.

The Parabhramhan, the Paramathman. who lives in our heart. That Place is the heavenly kingdom of god. Which is our real home, live there.

"Guru's presence" - (By Devotees)

AUM GURUBHOYA NAMAHA

I always feel his existence wherever I might be. I always feel him beside me.Even though I dont get time in attending his satsangs, but whenever I get time in office I visit his site to update myself. When I close my eyes I see him in front of me, indeed he exists everywhere.

(By Jaya Garu)

Last DEC or so I read about him and sent a mail in his website. He came to Chennai and his assistant(whom I met recently along with Nanna Garu(in Dr.Mithin's house) phoned up to me (it was Jan 2010 or so)I don't remember exactly,he gave the phone to Nanna Garu and I heard him saying that he would speak to me when he comes to Hyderabad in between I had been to USA and returned in August end. I forgot about Nanna Garu, to tell frankly. Last Sunday someone in Sri Ramana Kendram Hyderabad told that Sri Nanna Garu would be in Hyderabad during this week. Then I had a chat with Sri Dattasway on Tuesday it was first time I did a chat with Sri Datta Swamy. He took pain and gave me our Mithin's number and at 10pm reluctantly I disturbed Mithin over phone. He was instrumental in my having Sri Nanna Garu's dharshan.I was blessed.

Sri Nanna Garu is very simple and is full of love towards us.
Such a great personality/saintly man asked me to sit by his side means, there is something remarkable in him which I cannot tell in words.
On top of it he did not want me to wait for his audience and called me through his assistance when many were waiting. HE knows everything.
I can only say that I was blessed.
And Dr.Mithin was instrumental in this.

(By Ranganathan Garu)

Those were the days when the Heart was searching intensely for the Guru.

Bad Prarabdha was present intensely at that time.

I met Sri Nannagaru then through the introduction of Jhansi garu.

The first words that escaped His lips when he met were " You will be blessed."

The inner desire which was intense seemed to have come out in the form of that blessing.

The Guru with body is none other than Sri Nannagaru, this thought increased in my mind clearly.

Lord Arunachaleshwara who was in the form of Arunagiri whose best devotee was the Cow Lakshmi, like that I surrenderd my family burden to Him.

This same Arunachala solidified into the form of the Guru Sri Nannagaru.

Lord Dakshinamurthy whose leela is in Mouna ( Silence ) is Sri Nannagaru who is that same Brahmapadartha ( Bliss of Brahman ) who is walking.
This I realized by experience.

I am now trying to realize that I am just a mere instrument in Bhagwan Nannagaru's hands.

Om Shanti.

Thank you for all of the devotees who've shared their wonderful feelings that they had under his presence. These anecdotes are valuable.

"Dream Came True" - (By Devotee)

I am a housewife. In the year 1996, we used to reside in G Medapadu Of East Godavari District. We rented a small portion in a big house. Our landlord being Mrs.VijayaLakshmi, used to conduct RAMANA Satsang's every day between 2 PM to 4 PM. Along with other books, we used to read a spirtual discourse of Sri Nannagaru from Ramana Bhaskara. Since I had a high pitched and clear voice, I was asked to read the books. Some senior people who participated in this satsang used to elaborate the hidden and deeper meaning of Sri Nannagaru's simple words. Slowly, the satsang had an slow impact on me. By nature I am an angered person and intolerant to small mistakes or words even with my family members.

Unknowingly this satsang brought a remarkable change in my attitude and behaviour towards fellow human beings. This transformation was bought without by my effort. I could see and experience the change in myself. I never happened to visit Nannagaru till then.

As months passed, on one fine day I got a beautiful dream. It was at a railway station and near a train compartment. A gentleman wearing white clothes was assembled with devotees near window. He happened to see me,smiled and signaled to come near to him. I went to him, and offered fruits.

He asked me which mantra you want as Guru Upadesam.

I said "OM NAMO NARAYANAYA".

He chanted three times, and made me to do the same for 3 times.

And the dream ended.

Next morning, at 11 AM, I went to VijayaLakshmi Aunty and shared my dream. I tried to narrate him.

I said -

"He was sweet old man, he dint had teeth. He resembled like Old Mahatma Gandhi."

Simultaneously by doing her daily activities in Kitchen, she continued to listen to me curiously. All of a sudden, she ignored the work, and gave a hug saying it was none other than Sri Nannagaru. She also said you are really blessed.

She continued saying - "I just received a message that Nannagaru is going to Visakapatnam by train. As it halts for few minutes at our station, we all are going to Railway station to meet him tomorrow, you can also join us. "

I couldn't believe myself, since exactly as in my dream I was going to meet him in Railway Station. As it was in dream, he gave Mantroupadesam. The train halted for few minutes, and then started.

While I was returning from Railway Station, I could recollect his words that was said in his sermons -

"Guru always exist. Guru means existence forever. Real Guru is always within you and with you. In jagruth, swapna, susuhpta(Awakeness, dream, sleep) in all avastas he is present"

He also said -

"True devotee need not search for Guru. Guru himself will wear a body and will come to him, because this is Janmanthara Anubandam (connection from many births).

I felt -

Oh! superior Guru, you proved yourself.

By offering prostrations to Nannagaru's feet(Sri nannagurudevula padapadmamulaku prnamamulatho), I end the note here.

Thank you All.

Thank you for this inspiring story. It clearly shows there is nothing that is impossible under Guru's grace. It is all predestined when Guru calls his Devotee.

"Devotees words on Sadguru Nannagaru"

"In gratitude, devotion and faith at his feet may his grace shower on us always. Forgive us for our awful actions. Oh Nannagaru bless us with your love." -self

How quietly the time has passed by us
Since we first met on Friday's Eve,
Our Hearts are full now, with wonder
at the Loving we have received.

The Mind is like the noise of the traffic
or the bleating of Goats in the field
Bhagavan Whispered that we should surrender
but we too stubborn to yield.

As we sit here together in Silence
with only singing of birds
We know that the wisdom of Stillness
takes us deeper than ever can words

We feel Bhagavan’s Grace washing over us
and filling the room with his Peace
He tells us - "let go of all wanting
and your hearts will find perfect release"

The Guru may be in the body
or that That may have vanished to dust
But what is Supremely important
is giving him all of our trust.

Of Sadhana, spiritual practice
there care be no higher than this
Patiently bear every insult
and injuries humbly endure

Oh Lord what can we do to please you,
in gratitude for all of this
"Let go of the Mind and drop the small self
and so radiate Peace, Love and Bliss"

Oh Dearest Sri Nanna Garu
Please give us your Blessing and Grace
That our hearts may be filled with your sweetness
as mirrors of Sri Bhagavan’s Grace.

(This poem is written by a disciple at one of the retreats in Dorset, London which Sri Nannagaru visited this summer. )

"The fragrance of these petals Doesn’t think anything unworthy; So Your Grace. Doesn’t see anything separate. The dream that I was anything else Other than you.Dissolved when you garlanded this murti With your flowers of Unconditional Love. You married me with this garland; I merged and became nothing .So there is no-one to garland you in return. This I-thought, Is just another flower Which adorns your neck." - Ram Charan

"We do come across persons of different attributes. Some have a sweet tongue, some a delicate look, some others a kind disposition, yet others a love filled heart, some with an unselfish love, some with a simple life style, some whose acquintance is invaluable, and some whose company is enchanting. These diverse attributes, either singly or two or three together, are seen among many individuals. But a person in whom all these attributes are present in abundance is indeed very rare. Sri Nannagaru is one such rare person. He is an extraordinary personage."Sri Pingali Surya Sundaram

"I am on fire with this Love, Your gaze ignites my heart and I am melting, melting. There is only you, only That. Explosions of joy rust through me and fill me. My heart is bursting open. Love is uncontainable. You are inside me. Tears of relief. Tears of letting go. It is so simple. There is such happiness. All is so well. I feel such immeasurable gratitude. I have been touched by Grace".-Mira Maislen
